Are Mk5s going to be ok for out lot to use for this? I know you mentioned Mk3s. We used Mk5s at UCAP without any problems.
Obviously the Mk3 rule would still stand for you open days, but would they be okay for players to use for this event?

We tested the Mk3s down there yesterday. Barely audible and no competition to Jay's farting
and I think players will be not be impressed. Still, no worries about bleeding eardrums.
Thermobarics were just great though - they looked good, no doubt about where they went off, a nice audible 'crump' and sufficient smoke to mark the spot and give some atmospheric haze that hangs for ages.

Crumbs, what is?! 25-pounder even struggles, I hear.

Guy's snoring beats a 25 pounder. Saying that, the combined snoring of the 16th-SS isn't far short of a rolling barrage....

Its usually just Gaz............

with you guys its up to you really im allowed with my incurance to mark 5s so i think i will leave the dision to u . if you relly think you need them then i will print up a disclamer to add to our usual one but they i think there is a remote chance of someone getting hirt ether from sound or even a bit of roof caving in in the old sections weve not sorted yet . were still finding bits weve not expolred yet major and i found a 6 foot hole the other day in a section where no one gose but they might if there daft enough , its sorted now .
the main thing is ive played with most of you before and know your more mature and sencibal so the dicision is up to you ...

Can I suggest we keep the lights on this time.
The last UKAP outing, with the lights going off all the time, was tense for the first half hour but rapidly got frustrating/irritating, in my opinion anyway.
The lighting will be as-is, no turning on and off. But the lighting is both on and off anyway! With 3.5 miles of tunnels its going to be easy to get lost in the light and let alone in total darkness.
Usual rule about period-style torches please, no modern halogen/led/surefire type of kit.

are candle or lanterns ok chommers, not many ruskis had torches ill bet ?

Indeed, there are some areas that are pitch black. Bring a torch, or be lost!

Maybe I should get round to buying a period torch...
Does it only work once every four weeks?

And scream, shout and eat chocolate?

When I want your opinion - I'll tell you what it is!
Naughty boys!
For info about torches, here is stuff from our previous underground events:

These are the sort of things available cheaply and look the part.

Porta, just bring a candle without the lamp. ![]()

And stick it to the brim of your helmet with a blob of wax, very Cornish tinminer!!!

LOOK! I ham now four meggle man!

it's well known that cornish tin miners wear pasties for protection not helmets.
I think that was why the Cornish tin mining industry died out, eventually they just ran out of workers - wearing your lunch on your head would never get through H&S these days.

According to that wonderful source of fact , Wikipedia, it was more a case that the tourists ate all the pasties and therefore the miners couldn't use their traditional ethnic garb in the mines .
